This exhibit on the first floor gallery at the Belknap Mill offers a fascinating look at the history of skiing in NH's Lakes Region and at Gunstock. Those who love local history, skiing and sports should stop by and view the exhibit which includes donations from Gunstock of signs, skis, clothing, photos and artifacts.

Started in 1970 by founder Peter S. Karagianis, the historic Holbrook Bell in the Mill’s bell tower will proudly ring in the new year of 2012 at the stroke of midnight. Doors will open at 11:30pm. Light refreshments will be served; admission is free.

The Historic Belknap Mill in downtown Laconia will host a book-signing by local author Carol Lee Anderson and local Olympic ski champion Penny Pitou. The book will be available for sale as well. The book tells the history of the Belknap Mountains Recreation Area beginning in the 1920s through to why and how it changed to Gunstock Ski Area, and includes information on preservation efforts that continue today.
Many other activities will occur throughout the downtown area on December 10 as Laconia celebrates its Christmas Open House from 12pm to 6pm. Merchants and other organizations and businesses will have activities and special sales to encourage the public to visit.
