Meet the Team
Katherine Switala Elmhurst serves as Acting Executive Director of the Belknap Mill in a volunteer capacity, bringing over 25 years of experience in historic preservation, building construction, and building performance. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and is a seasoned project manager, educator, and author with a systems-based approach that blends preservation and sustainability. Katherine has led design and restoration efforts for nationally significant sites and is an expert in the environmental management of historic house museums. At Temple University, she guided capital projects through LEED certification, developed experiential learning programs, and helped lead Philadelphia’s first Petal Certified project under the Living Building Challenge.
Katherine lives in the Lakes Region with her husband and two dogs. When she’s not deep in projects, you will find her snowboarding, paddle boarding, hiking a mountain, or off exploring new places in search of good food and a great view.
Jill Desruisseaux serves as Associate Director of the Belknap Mill Museum, where she is instrumental in advancing the museum’s mission through the development and implementation of educational programs and community engagement initiatives. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Studies from Plymouth State University and has a decade of experience as the owner and operator of Jilly Bean Family Childcare and Preschool. Jill resides in Gilford, New Hampshire, with her husband and two children. She is a proud graduate of the Leadership Lakes Region Class of 2024.
Outside of her professional commitments, Jill enjoys traveling, supporting her children’s activities, and exploring innovative ways to connect the community with its rich historical heritage.
